This article explains how to troubleshoot the replacement of drives that Qumulo Core doesn't support.
DETAILS
Qumulo Core might fail to recognize vendor-provided drive replacements as supported. The following are some common scenarios and resolutions.
- Drive Firmware is Outdated: Through continuous testing of supported drives, we occasionally determine that certain drive firmware might be a data loss risk. For help with updating the firmware to a supported version, contact Qumulo Care.
- Drive Firmware is Newer than Qumulo Core Support: As drive manufacturers release new firmware, we might require testing of the firmware before allowing you to install it on drives in Qumulo systems. For help with updating the firmware to a supported version, contact Qumulo Care.
- Drive is Newer than Qumulo Core Support: As drive manufacturers change drive availability, we occasionally deploy new drive models. For help with installing an up-to-date Supported Drive List (to allow Qumulo Core to recognize newly qualified drives), contact Qumulo Care.
Important: To ensure reliability and continued compatibility between drives and Qumulo Core, update Qumulo Core regularly. - Incorrect Drive Received: If you believe that you might have received an incorrect drive from a vendor, contact the vendor to exchange the drive for a supported one.
